Mitch’s Greenthumb Landscaping started out in 1977 with a handful of employees and a dream of growth and prosperity.  Over the years we have grown into a multi-million dollar company employing over eighty personnel.  Our client base keeps growing, and last year our Maintenance Division serviced 193 accounts ranging in size from small strip malls (Arlington Center and Fox Lake Center) to large condominium complexes (Lake Park Manor Homes, Vernon Hills – 358 units). We also service municipalities and school districts such as The Village of Wheeling 1998-present, The City of Des Plaines 1998-1999, The Village of Gurnee 1999, Glen Ellyn School District #41 1998-2002, and Buffalo Grove School District #102 1998-2001 and District  #41 2002-2003 (snow plowing only).

Our construction division did approximately 10 million dollars in installation work last year with project sizes ranging from a Mini Mart in Grayslake to Gregg’s Landing in Vernon Hills (a golf course community near Hawthorn Mall). Our work takes us to many places, from White Caps in Kenosha, WI to the Hindu Temple in Lemont, Stuart’s Crossing in St. Charles, Concordia University in Chicago and Northland Plaza in DeKalb just to name a few. We offer a wide variety of services including erosion control solutions, block, stone and timber retaining walls, as well as all phases of landscape installation.

Our goal as a company is to provide our customers with individual attention, quality service and competitive pricing.  Many of our clients have been with us for 10 or more years, which is an honor to us as a company and a tribute to our hard work and dedication.

Our foremen have all been with the company for many years, ranging from five to sixteen plus. Most of our laborers have many years with the company also, and as we grow and add new employees, we look to them for recommendations.  We work as a team, and have found that it is the only way things will get accomplished.

Our crews all wear uniforms consisting of brown pants with white shirts for the foremen, and tan shirts for the laborers.  All shirts have the employees name and our company name on them.  All of our foremen carry Nextel radios so they can be reached at any time to respond to a customer’s needs.

We continue to grow each year, and have expanded across the country opening a division in the Denver, Colorado area in 1999 and Reno, Nevada in 2002.
